Why is innovation for sustainable development needed?

Everyone knows the damage we have done to and are continuously inflicting on our environment is irreparable. However, the collective realization of our civilization is praiseworthy. Today, we, as a society, are trying to mend our ways and pay back the environment. It will take a lot of time to create an idealistic infrastructure as we have built our society on the foundations of materialistic pleasures. Reverting to a simplistic society might not be possible for us anymore, but we can minimise our negative impact on the environment.

This noble intention of our society has given rise to a unique field of technology- innovation for sustainable development. The objective of this innovation is to design products that will fulfil our day-to-day needs while putting minimum pressure on the environment. This new approach has a lot of benefits not only for us but generations to come. The day is not far when we shall get used to sustainable products and will naturally reject the products which have even the slightest adverse effect on the environment.

Some of the recent successes can be seen in the development of sustainable products used in our houses. Real estate development and the construction industry have traditionally relied on natural resources. However, with the boom in housing, the pressure on natural resources increased day by day. Today, this has shown us the alternative path of using resources in a very effective manner. Some of the most common examples of sustainable products are as follows:

1.Solar Panels

Solar panels are probably the most brilliant innovation for sustainable development of our times. The sun can be harnessed for power with minimal impact on the environment. Today, houses are being fitted with solar panels, which can be effectively used for water pumping and supply.

2.LED lighting

The invention of LED lights has reduced the consumption of electricity to a great extent. Today, LED lights are not only considered good for the environment but also appealing to the eye.

3.Bamboos

Another praiseworthy innovation for sustainable development is the re-developed mechanisms for using bamboo as building materials. The use of bamboos in construction also provides a boost to the farmers and helps the planet.

4.Steel doors

It is an innovation that has been happily embraced by the common public. People use steel doors instead of traditional wooden doors in their constructions. Today, some brands have come up in that market to sell attractive steel doors.
